There Is Only Light

Why I’m Here

Many years ago, I had a dream - or maybe it was a vision - it was an experience that wasn’t part of daily reality. I was in a place that was completely dark and filled with Light. Not starlight or moonlight or sunlight - just ... Light that was also part of the essence of darkness. It was/is difficult to describe and no way to understand with my western rational/logical mind. But completely accessible to my intuitive/metaphorical mind.

Light - both particle and wave - matter and energy - an encapsulation of all the cosmos, seen and unseen.

More recently, over the past few weeks, I’ve been getting nudges to pick up my divination cards and start reading again. Let me clarify - I don’t look into the nebulous future or past. I use the cards to spark my intuitive mind to look at the present through a different lens. Or, as Emily Dickinson might say: to see the truth but see it slant.

If you look up divination at the online etymology dictionary, you’ll see that it’s meanings include discovering what is hidden or obscure and to be inspired by the divine, from the Proto-Indo-European root dyeu - to shine. And, we’re back to Light.

Let me clarify again - when I speak of the divine, I’m not talking about some old guy with a long white beard sitting on a throne up in the clouds throwing out random blessings and - more often - curses. In a word: God. I’m speaking of the inherent, intelligent, ineffable Light/Life that imbues everything in the cosmos - particle and wave - matter and energy.

So when I pull the cards, I’m looking to see what’s being obscured or deliberately hidden in this dark and dangerous moment in time and what kind of insight I can gather and then share -- so that we can see things from a different perpsective and perhaps discover new ways of thinking, speaking, and acting -- so that we can bring a new way of being on the planet. One that is not so dark and so dangerous. And yes, I believe that I am inspired by the divine in the ways I comprehend the cards - and yes, I believe you are too.

When I agreed to finally listen to those nudges, I also felt it was time to begin writing again and sharing my insights on a simple blog. One piece falls into place and the next piece appears. Of course, I pulled a card for guidance from the Secret Language of Light Deck and it was There Is Only Light and so, the name for this blog. There’s enough darkness, we need some light, even just a sliver, to see our way.

I hadn’t initally planned it this way and am delighted to see I’m beginning this blog on:

There Is Only Light

Tell all the truth but tell it slant —
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth's superb surprise
As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind —
